What If My Measurements Fall On a Sizing Boundary?
If your measurement means you fall on a sizing boundary, we recommend you select the larger size for optimal comfort and a safe level of compression.
For example, if the circumference of your thigh was 53cm, we would recommend you select a size Large.
Our Top Sizing Tips
- The Donjoy Deluxe Hinged Knee Brace is designed to provide a compressive fit to maximise rehabilitation and recovery
- If you fall on a sizing boundary, please select the large of the two sizes
- When measuring, run a flat tape measure from the centre of the knee cap up 15cm toward the thigh
What If I'm Concerned About Tightness?
If you correctly measured the circumference of your thigh, your purchased brace should provide a snug and compressive fit. If you're still concerned about tightness, we recommend selecting a size larger than your measurements indicate.
How Compressive Is a Donjoy Knee Brace?
In order to achieve healing and encourage rehabilitation following an injury, any brace you wear must provide a snug fit. The Donjoy Deluxe Knee Brace comes equipped with two straps, allowing you to adjust the tightness above and below the knee.
The brace itself fits over the knee joint, creating compression and keeping the knee in a fixed position thanks to twin condyle pads located at either side of the joint.
What Are the Benefits of a Snug Fitting Brace?
In order to correctly align the patella and surrounding ligaments, any brace you wear following an injury or during rehabilitation needs to provide compression. This encourages blood flow to the ligaments and tendons surrounding the knee which in turn means your injury heals quicker than it would without a compressive brace.

How Tight Is the Donjoy Knee Brace?
In order to achieve healing and encourage rehabilitation following an injury, any brace you wear must provide a snug fit. The Donjoy Deluxe Knee Brace comes equipped with two straps, allowing you to adjust the tightness above and below the knee. The brace itself fits over the knee joint, creating compression and keeping the knee in a fixed position thanks to twin condyle pads located at either side of the joint.
Which Version Should I Choose?
Available as either a pull-on sleeve or as a wraparound support, the Donjoy Deluxe Hinged Support has two options with different benefits for each. The pull-on sleeve is ideal for those in the later stages of recovery who would prefer quick and easy application of their support. The wraparound support is more suited to the early stages of injury, as this brace can be applied without risking further damage or discomfort to the affected area.
How Do I Fit the Donjoy Hinged Knee Brace?
- Pull-on Style Brace: Simply insert your foot through the brace hole and adjust at the knee until comfortable.
- Wrap-around Brace: Lay the brace flat on a stable surface and place your extended knee over the fabric. Wrap both straps around and adjust tightness until compression is achieved.
Double Strap Design
To ensure your brace doesn't ride up or dislodge itself, Donjoy have equipped the Deluxe Hinged Brace with twin straps located above and below the knee joint. Each strap uses a hook and loop fastening that runs around the circumference of the leg, allowing you to adjust tightness until a comfortable fit is achieved.
Lightweight and Breathable
The Deluxe Hinged Knee Brace is constructed with a unique nylon core and polyester Lycra fabric to improve airflow in the area. This helps you remain comfortable throughout use. This breathable design is ideal if you suffer from allergic reactions to neoprene or for use in warmer weather during the summer months.
Does the Brace Come With Extension/Flexion Hinges?
The wraparound variation of the Donjoy Deluxe Knee Brace comes with twin condyle pads that can be adjusted to promote the desired level of flex or extension.
Can These Extension/Flexion Hinges Be Replaced?
They can. Please view the guide attached below to see how this is done:
Twin Condyle Pads
Found only on the wrap-around variation of the brace are twin condyle pads. If either pad is dislodged, simply adjust the position of the fabric section of the brace and reposition each pad against the side of the knee until correction support is achieved. Located at either side of the brace, they keep the knee in a fixed and stable position. This suspended position keeps the knee in place and allows healing to continue whilst you remain active.
