Which Conditions Can The Nuerexa Help With?
This classic 3-point principle knee support restricts the range of motion to prevent hyperextension and instability. The full list of indications for the Genu Neurexa Brace include:
- Leg muscle paresis
- Hyperextension
- Instability
Key Features and Benefits
- Non-elastic straps and lockable splints provide firm, rigid support for the knee
- Hinge system allows restriction of extension and flexion in 10 - 15° intervals
- Strapping wraps around the full circumference of the knee to ensure stability
- Made with temperature regulating materials to prevent overheating during the day
- High level of comfort provided by soft material and prime strapping placement
- Wrap around model allows easy application for therapist, relative or user
What is Hyperextension?
Hyperextension happens when the leg moves too forcefully in the wrong direction, usually as a result of playing high-impact sports. This can cause a great deal of damage to the tendons and ligaments in the knee, resulting in long-term instability and a higher risk of injury.
How Can Hyperextension Be Prevented?
Limiting the knees range of motion is the key to preventing hyperextension, and the Ottobock Neurexa Brace does this with hinges that limit extension and flexion of the knee in increments of 10 - 15°. This stops the knee from moving into unnatural positions, which gives it the opportunity to heal while reducing the risk of further injury.
